My First Stitch Fix Experience

After hearing rave reviews from my girls, Haley & Rachel, I decided to try out Stitch Fix. I signed up within a few minutes and went through a process of rating pictures of outfits, answering questions about my bra measurement- dress size- pant size and writing a letter to my personal stylist about future events and more information about my life to assist in her selections for My 1st Fix. In my notes to the stylist I said:

I recently had a baby and I am returning to work in the next month. I'm losing all of the baby weight pretty quickly so far and I am really looking forward to updating my wardrobe now that I am not in maternity clothes. My company's attire has changed from casual to business professional and I will do some light traveling to visit clients. Normally I would throw on a dress and go since I can't stand putting outfits together & takes too much time in the morning.

I then scheduled My First Fix to arrive this week before I left for a wedding in Charleston and starting work next week. My Stitch Fix box arrived on Tuesday morning and I immediately ran upstairs and ripped open the package. I received a dress, skirt, and three blouses with a cute little note and style guide.

If you are anything like me new clothes give you the same feeling as Christmas morning and my mom ingrained in me to try on all of the news clothes and model it for her. So I proceeded to have my own fashion show and since my husband was not home I sent all of the photos to Haley for her opinion.

Cute dress but not a great fit for my "mom body"

Paired with a blazer for business wear per my Fix Stylist. Liked this a lot more but not willing to pay $68

Loved this top and the fit but have one pretty similar

By far my favorite top from the selection and a little different pattern than I would normally pick out  in the store.

Loved this tribal patterned skirt but have a very similar skirt.

After reviewing the prices of each of the items I decided to only keep one of the blouses and sent everything else back. I'm an extremely thrifty shopper and can usually find clothes around $20-$40 an item. Probably part of the reason why I want to revamp my wardrobe. If I would have purchased all 5 items from Stitch Fix each item would have been $38 but I didn't love the way everything fit. In your Stitch Fix box you are provided a return mail bag so I placed the 4 items in a dropped it in the mail and then logged into the website to complete the checkout process. When you log in it takes you directly to the checkout area and you rate each of the items and select Keep or Return.

Once you rate each of the five items it calculates your total and then you process the purchase. Immediately you are sent a receipt and brought to the window below for more feedback.
Overall, I loved my "First Fix" and thought the quality of the clothes were very well made and would last a long time. My favorite part of my purchase was the style guide that was provided and it gave me some inspiration on how to make the clothes I currently have in my closet work until I receive my next Stitch Fix box in the mail. If you decide to try out Stitch Fix let us know how it works for you :)

Hope everyone has a FUN & SAFE 4th of July Weekend!

Love,
Stella

Road Tripping with a Toddler

Traveling with a toddler can be an adventure for sure! Being prepared and having lots to do is key if you want to actually make it to your destination. We are headed out of town for the 4th of July weekend and I've been on the hunt to find the best activities to keep the kids busy. If you know my husband, he does NOT like stopping so I knew I would have to get creative in finding things to do to make the four hour trip go by fast. Here is a roundup of all my favorite apps & games for the car.

Find fun friendly farm animals inside the barn, perfect for toddlers and easy to use.

This is great for younger toddlers 1-2 years old. FaceTime with elmo in all sorts of locations.

The PBS Kids app is so easy my 2 year old can turn it on and navigate to the show he wants to watch! So many options and great for car rides.

Lots and lots of stickers! My son just got this dinosaur sticker book that has stickers in the front and blank pages in the back to decorate dinosaurs. This is sure to keep him busy for awhile!

The straw game! Some of the most simple things are the most fun. Grab a pack of straws and a canister or colander and go to it!

Most importantly, do not forget SNACKS! I don't know what it is about kids but they can literally eat all day long. My favorite on the go snacks are fig bars, fruit pouches, raisins, goldfish, pretzels, animal crackers & dum dum lollipops as a treat. Don't get too fancy with refrigerated items. Keep it simple!

Whether you're staying here or going out of town for the 4th, I hope this post makes your car ride a bit more fun. Happy 4th of July and have a fabulous weekend! xoxo, Rachel

{Beauty Round Up}

Good Morning ladies! And we meet again, Monday. But today I am bringing you two new beauty buys that I got over the weekend. They weren't anything I was looking for but they practically jumped into my basket and begged "Take me home, Haley! You need us." At least that's the way I justify it in my head. HA!

I'm sure most of you have been to Sephora. If not, let me paint the picture. When you go up to check out, they have you wind through this little area that is filled with essentially "travel size" versions of beauty products. Sephora knows exactly what they are doing. While you wait, you stare at these little beauties (no pun intended), and you pick up one or two and add them to your basket. Well, that's what happened to me with this GlamGlow Youthmud Tingle Exfoliate Treament. It is a very small amount. However, a touch pricey.  They do make a bigger size but I don't think I would ever purchase it...mainly because I have too many lotions, masks, treatments, etc that a small size of each is just plenty.

This mask, when you put it on, does tingle {some reviews say burn, but I disagree} & has green tea leaves in it. It goes on in a greenish hue and dries. You leave it on for 10 minutes. It is supposed to exfoliate, brighten, & tighten. For a first impression, it definitely did exfoliate and smooth (it has volcanic pumice rock in it...fancy I know!). Was I brighter? Slightly. I think with more applications, I will see a difference. Stay tuned. I give it an A. It was refreshing after I had been out in the sun & am excited to see what else it does for me.

The second product I bring you is Lorac's Alter Ego Lip Gloss in "Socialite." This is a true nude gloss & it is really pretty on. I have never really had a nude gloss, and this one is totally winning me over. It goes on smooth, is not sticky, and smells & tastes good. My husband even liked it. Win! This product in my opinion is not that pricey & can be found at Ulta. I love this one so much that I want to try their other colors. However, I must practice self control. I hoard glosses & lip sticks....it's bad.

And just a funny for you, this is totally how I feel when I ask my husband if he likes my new lip gloss.

I hope y'all have liked this small beauty round up. I love to hear about different brands & what works for others (#beautyblogjunkie). Let me know if you purchase and what your thoughts are.

Happy Monday!

xoxo,
Haley

Welcome to the Dainty Details Blog!

Good Morning and welcome to our blog!! This little space here in the interwebs came to be because some girlfriends thought it would be neat to compile all the "details" of their lives in one place for others to read about & learn new things -- including ourselves. We hope to bring you all kinds of interesting knowledge or personal takes on our lives. Think beauty, recipes, love, momma stories/momma wins (lots of mommas in the house), techy hacks, health (from our very own PT, ladies & gentleman!!), or anything we think you might enjoy!! We hope you'll join us on this new "journey" if you will. Without further ado, here are our contributing ladies!!

Back in January, my husband and I became a CARES team for a luxury apartment in the South Park area of Charlotte, NC and we are in charge of building relationships between the residents by hosting monthly events. After many years of hosting bridal shower and baby showers as well as working in the food and beverage industry I have lots of tips and tricks up my sleeve and lots of yummy recipes that I plan to share! I also really enjoy traveling and spending time at breweries with my husband and friends!!

My motto is Peace, Love and Wine, lots and lots of wine.

[Haley]
Hi everyone! My name is Haley & am married to my college sweetheart, Brian. We just moved to Austin, Texas for my husband's job & are learning all we can on how to be Texans. That includes tacos...lots and lots of tacos. And don't forget the 'ritas! Who's with me?! I am a self proclaimed dog-aholic. Give me all the puppies! I love to be outside..call me a sun worshiper. I love all things girly but am not afraid to get my hands dirty. I too, love wine. I don't discriminate.
